Frequently asked questions

Medicoo is an app that allows you to consult a GP, even if you are not registered at a GP practice. Through the Medicoo app, you can chat with a nurse and, when necessary, video call a GP.

Medicoo is the place to go for all your non-emergency health questions. In the app conversation with the nurse, you discuss your question. In most cases, your question can be answered online by the nurse or online GP. Sometimes physical examination is needed. In those cases, you will be referred to your own GP or the nurse will help you find a GP from our network near you who can see you at short notice.

Medicoo is best for new health questions. To make appointments, request referrals and/or medication, call the GP practice.

In a life-threatening situation, always call 112 immediately!

You can use Medicoo if you have been informed about it by your GP practice or post, or by the region where you are currently on holiday. In addition, Medicoo can be used if you are not registered with a GP practice.

Use of the Medicoo app is free of charge in most cases because it is reimbursed by your health insurer or your own GP, as Medicinfo has made agreements with them about this. This means that your health insurer pays for this consultation and that it is not deducted from your deductible.

Only in exceptional cases, for example because you are not insured for care in the Netherlands, will the costs be charged. This will then always be notified in advance.

Yes, look here How to register in the Medicoo app when you are from Belgium.

Medicoo is a service of Medicinfo. Medicinfo now has more than 20 years of experience in expert and personalised online care.

All nurses are BIG registered and work in Medicinfo's Medical Contact Centre. All GPs are also BIG registered and, in addition to their work at Medicinfo, are active as GPs in their (own) practice or as acting GPs.

In a life-threatening situation, always call 112 immediately!

The nurses are available 7 days a week. On weekdays from 07:00 to 23:00 and on weekends / holidays from 09:00 to 21:00. The GPs are available 7 days a week by appointment. This is possible both during the day and in the evenings.

In some regions, opening hours vary. This will always be notified in advance.

For many health questions, the information you provide during the video consultation is enough for the GP. When this is not the case, the GP will refer you to your own GP or we will help you find a GP from our network in your area.

A strong front line is one of the pillars of our care. Unfortunately, due to a growing shortage of GPs, not everyone always has access to it. Medicoo wants to be a first point of contact for those patients, so that they have easy access to their healthcare questions, via chat and video calls. Medicoo is working on a network of practices where patients can go when further investigation is needed. We fully support it if patients can still find a practice to register with in this way.

If you would like to participate as a practice or exchange views, please feel free to contact us at info@medicinfo.nl.

The Medicoo app is designed to provide online care when needed. For example, because there is a shortage of GPs in your region and you cannot find a GP. Medicoo thus contributes to a solution for the GP shortage in (parts of) the Netherlands. For the group of people without their own GP, Medicoo offers a solution to still have easy and online access to care.

The GP does not prescribe medication. If medication is needed, the GP will refer you to your own GP or we will help you find a GP from our network in your area.

The GP cannot refer you to a specialist. If a referral is likely to be needed, the GP will refer you to your own GP or we will help you find a GP from our network in your area.

Of course, there are situations where a physical examination is necessary. In that case, the GP will refer you to your own GP or we will help you find a GP from our network in your area.

The Netherlands has a duty of identification in healthcare. We are therefore obliged by law to ask patients to identify themselves and register these details. Naturally, we handle your data with great care. You only need to fill in your details at the first consultation.

We think your privacy is very important. Therefore, in the Medicoo app, we only process the data we need to use the app and provide appropriate care. We process personal data in accordance with applicable privacy legislation (the General Data Protection Regulation: EU 2016/679). In addition, we are NEN 7510 and ISO 27001 certified. Want to know more about how we handle your privacy and what your rights and obligations are? Then take a look at our privacy statement.

Image conversations with the GP are not saved.

In the BIG register, you can see whether a healthcare provider is allowed to practise his profession. You can also see whether a disciplinary measure, such as suspension, has been imposed. The BIG register can be accessed by anyone.

If you have any questions about the Medicoo app, let us know via the contact page. Are you not satisfied with our service? Then you can submit your complaint via klachten@medicinfo.nl. Medicinfo has a clear complaints procedure, so you can rest assured that your complaint will be handled appropriately.
